People’s Mangrove Academy has evolved through our continuous engagement with communities to critically analyse and understand the climate crisis and the role of mangroves in addressing their vulnerabilities. This initiative has facilitated the collectivization of coastal communities to undertake social action on ecosystem restoration and implement nature-based solutions to ensure sustainable development. The Academy is conceived as a sustained effort to demystify the concepts surrounding this unique form of saline vegetation, comprising saline trees, shrubs, and herbs, each of which has distinct ecological significance and provides essential provisioning services to coastal communities
